When can I join Monarch
You can join Monarch year-round if you are a member of any of the health plans below, by simply calling them and requesting your physician through Monarch HealthCare. There's no need to wait until Medicare's Annual Election Period, and you can start the process right-away. During Medicare's Enrollment period, when you select your health plan, make sure you select Monarch as your Medical Group. As always, you can call 1-877-GO-MONARCH (466-6627) for information and assistance.
When can I join Medicare Advantage?
- You can join when you first become eligible for Medicare (three months before the month you turn age 65 until 3 months after the month you turn age 65).
- If you didn't join when you were first eligible, you can join during the Annual Election Period,
October 15th through December 7th.
In certain situations, you may be able to join a Medicare Advantage Plan at other times. For example:
- If you move out of the service area of the plan you are in,
- If you have both Medicare and Medicaid,
- If you have certain special needs

OPTION A – Choose Monarch through your Medicare health plan
When you enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan, make sure that when you choose your primary care physician, you choose Monarch as your medical group. From January 1st through October 15th most people cannot join or change a Medicare Advantage plan. However, as an existing Medicare Advantage member, you can join Monarch year-round through any of our contracted plans listed below. Simply let your plan know you want your doctor through Monarch. OPTION B – Contact a Medicare Insurance Agent
Independent health insurance agents can help you compare and enroll in the Medicare Advantage plan that has the benefits and options that fit you best during Medicare's Annual Election Period, October 15th through December 7th*. The broker you choose should be licensed and in good standing with the State of California Department of Insurance. Ask the broker to tell you which Medicare Plans they are approved to represent.
*If you are new to the area, turning 65 soon, or qualify for a special election, an agent may be able to help you join or change your Medicare Advantage plan at other times of the year. Call Monarch for more information.

OPTION C – Contact Medicare
You can visit www.Medicare.gov to review health plans in your area and enroll in the plan you choose. Most beneficiaries can only apply during certain times of the year. To change your Medical Group to Monarch during the lock-in period (January 1st through October 15th), please call us at 1-877-GO-MONARCH (466-6627), or contact your health plan.
